Delivered 224 billion messages across its combined mobile messaging platforms
Internet infrastructure services provider VeriSign has recorded a growth in its mobile messaging volumes according to the latest quarterly mobile messaging statistics compiled by the Messaging and Mobile Media division of the company.
VeriSign, which delivers 60% of the text and mobile message traffic in the US inter-carrier market, reported a new high of nearly 84 billion messages delivered throughout the quarter. The company said that it delivered more than 224 billion messages across its combined mobile messaging platforms.
In the first quarter of 2009, VeriSign combined mobile messaging networks enabled an average of approximately 932 million messages per day, an increase of 18.5% from the previous quarter and 96% rise compared to year-ago quarter.
The VeriSign Inter-Carrier MMS and PictureMail volumes also rose 130% and 84% respectively. In total, VeriSign delivered more than 1.1 billion MMS messages in the quarter. Growth is also seen in mobile media/mobile content messaging volumes through its mobile delivery gateway.
