CBR Staff Writer Published 11 December 2008

Operator to purchase 50,000 user licences

Mobile email and synchronisation specialist, Synchronica, has signed a contract with an unidentified Chilean operator, under which the latter will launch Synchronica's Mobile Gateway in Chile.

Under the agreement, the operator will purchase 50,000 user licences of Mobile Gateway at $2.92 per user, as well as pay an annual fee of $0.73 per user for support and maintenance. Synchronica will also provide professional services for customisation and integration for a fee of $156,000.

The contract was signed by Synchronica's reseller Brightstar.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, said: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement with a leading operator in the South American market, a key milestone for Synchronica. It is also the first agreement through our re-seller Brightstar with whom we have developed a strong pipeline in Latin America.

The Synchronica Mobile Gateway brings mobile email and synchronisation to mass market devices. It is operated in the data centre of the service provider and connects to the user's mail server through a secure connection.

The Gateway combines SyncML (OMA DS) for synchronisation of calendar and contacts with Push IMAP (LEMONADE) for mobile email supporting OMA EMN and email-to-SMS functionality.

According to Synchronica, IMAP functionality enables Mobile Gateway to deliver push email to millions of mobile devices without requiring additional client software. With email-to-SMS functionality, users can send emails to even basic phones.
