US based Apple has signed a deal with Swiss national train operator SBB to use its trademark station clocks on iPads and iPhones.
Earlier, Apple had used the famous clock design without seeking permission from the Swiss rail operator on a new iPad and iPhone application.
SBB said in a statement: "For the use of the clock face on certain Apple devices such as iPads and iPhones, the parties have negotiated an arrangement that enables Apple to use the SBB station clock under a licence agreement."
Featuring a short second hand with a red ball at the end, the clock holds the brand for a 1944 design by Zurich-based engineer Hans Hilfiker, and is still deployed in SBB's stations.
"The parties have agreed that the amount of the licensing fee and any further details of the licensing arrangement will remain confidential," SBB said.
Swiss rail operator had called on Apple in September 2012, following recognising that the new clock application featured in the iPhone maker's new iPad operating system, iOS 6, has replicated the SBB clock design.
