Apple has reportedly cut its orders for parts used in its iPhone 5 smartphone due to weaker than expected sales.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the company's orders for iPhone 5 screens for the January-March quarter have declined to roughly half of what Apple had previously planned to order.
The company has also reportedly cut orders for other screen sizes as well.
Apple released its new 4G-enabled iPhone 5 in September 2012 which features a 4-inch Retina display and A6 chip to enhance performance.
The new phone, which is powered by iOS 6, is claimed to have about 200 new features including a customised mapping programme , Facebook incorporation and passbook organisation and the voice-activated assistant, Siri.
Last month, Apple revealed that it sold two million units of the iPhone 5 in China just three days after its launch.
A report from IDC revealed that Apple held 15.16% share of global smart connected device shipments in the third quarter of 2012.
