For users who prefer a rolling contract instead of a lengthy one
UK-based 3 has launched Broadband 5GB 1 month, its new mobile broadband package based on a SIM card that does not require a standard tenure contract.
The offering provides customers with a mobile broadband SIM with 5GB data allowance for £15 a month, to use with their existing 3 dongle. 5GB storage suffices for either sending 5,000 emails or surfing for about 50 hours, the company said. The deal is a 1-month contract after which consumers can cancel it by putting up 30 days notice.
3 said that the offer serves users who prefer a rolling contract instead of a lengthy one. Consumers with a 3 dongle can directly insert the SIM card and start operating; the SIM can also be placed into a broadband-embedded laptop. The first-timers or those without a spare dongle could purchase the plan with a USB modem.
The company claims to provide customers with a full 2GB more data than that of its competitors, also that the option of adding a dongle is cheaper when compared to the alternatives. The equivalent deal from Orange provides 3GB storage capacity for the same price.
The firm is currently working with the government’s Digital Britain project which is expected to deliver a 2Mb broadband connection to every household by 2012. More than 3m people in the UK are 3 customers. The mobile operator has 16m customers worldwide.
